The Summary of Pediatric Anesthetic Machines

Abstract
|

|
For the safe pediatric anesthesia, it is very important to understand the anatomy, physior logy and biochemical characteristics of the infant and child.
Recently due to the development of pediatric anesthetic machines and anesthetic technology, we can perform the pediatric surgery safely and successfully.
The pediatric anesthetic machines must have some basic characteristics as compared with the adult machines. The pediatric machines must have the least dead-space and the least resistance to fresh gas flow. They must be easily handled, very light, safe and humidified adequately. Particularly during prolonged pediatric surgery, the heated humidifier must be attached to the pediatric machines for the prevention of dryness to the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
I will classify the various pediatric anesthetic machines systematically and investigate their basic structures, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages according to the references.
